I think this guy is on to somthing.

Granted on a neon, better grounds really would help but this makes sense to me why people would feel gains and smoothness after a grounding mod.

This was one of my first mods as i worked at a small stereo shop at the time and had access to any gauge wire and near unlimited amounts of it. Its simple to make for yourself, and is a MUST for any stock neon grounds. Even seen the stock battery ground? Its like 10 gauge to a painted surface... ITS A JOKE. If you do not upgrade at least your battery ground, you shouldnt own a car, let alone a neon.

Edit: also, a friend with a Scion tC said he had hesitation problems. Looked it up, others found doing a grounding kit helped solve the problem. Did the grounding kit on his, says it definatly improved.

I have no idea what you are talking about. But I never did this so called "grounding kit" and my Neon is fine. I already own my Neon. How about do you upgrade it? Maybe a simple how-to in the How-to section. Sorry I haven't done this mod No-Destiny. :lol:

I too have added a few 4ga grounds lately. (installed my amp, and used extra ground cable to ground the engine and battery). The car starts and shuts off smoother now, as well as idling smoother. No headlight dimming at all (along with an adam K. ODP and an optima). I am impressed with the improved feeling of the car with just grounds. I also cleaned up the stock grounds and filed the paint away from their contact points.

I have an NRG grounding kit waiting to go on my blue car, just waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer here.

a friend of mine did a 'homemade' one on his RSX-S and said it seemed to respond a bit quicker and smoother

Im def gonna look into grounding when I get back to work on my car, i was thinkin of going with the apexi unit that diablo is running, cuz i wouldnt trust myself with electrical work of any kind haha. A how-to would def be interesting though if any of u experts have the time. I need to learn a LOT about electronic stuff, i barely know what guage is when it comes to wires. good thing im goin to UTI, ill be a pro when im done!

Basicly, go buy some 4 awg wire from any store (stereo shops will have them, but not usualy for cheap!). Also, you will need some ring crimps (2 per wire, you want to do at least 2 wires).

2 main things to concentrate on for grounding: The battery and the head. You can remove the stock ground, and measure up with a 4 awg ground if you wanted (easiest way). Than, sand down on the chassis point where it grounds to till you see bare metal (using 100 grit or higher), than install the wire. Its simple.

Other things to ground...

Alternator
Block
Tires

I do have a Grounding Kit I bought off ebay, Its a gold disk with several connectors comming out. Im not going to use in on my Scooby

Anyone here want it?

AWG or American wire guage

The smaller the number the bigger the wire.

Common wires numbers are 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22,24

4 gauge has about the same diamter(spelling) as a nickel where as 24 gauge hard to comapre it anything but you could fit inside ink tube of a BIC pen and get another one beside it.

you have stranded wire and soild wire. Stranded is a bunch of much smaller strandes of copper twisted together. Soild wire is just that soild mass of copper.

different metals conduct better then other. Gold and silver are at the top. Copper is used mainly cause it conducts great and cheaper to mass perduce. You will see Aulium(spelling) mixed wire as well but thats normally used by the power company. It can handle a lot of power but gets rid of heat faster.

The byproduct of current moving thru a wire is heat. This is bad. use too small a wire to power something and it will glow red then melt everything about it till it burn threw itself or shorts out.

i.e. 20 Amps 120V thru 18 gauge powering 5000watt A/C burned out the outlet the wires to the outlet and the power plug to the A/C unit. Made a lot of smoke and sparks scared the person bad enough they would go back in to booth and cost them 200.00 for me repair everything.
