MPX Pulley and Adam K Alt Pulley

Post by hlfahemi » Mon Sep 27, 2004 7:15 pm

I purchased a used mpx pulley from a guy about 2 months ago and a alt pulley last week for my 01 Neon se ATX. Well this Saturday i got a chance to install them. They were well worth it.

MPX Pulley-
The stock crank was a pita to get off but the mpx pulley was easy as pie to install. Once the crank pulley was off, I put to pieces of ducktape on the center of the mpx pulley. Found a bushing and hammered it on.

Now I wasn't expecting a huge amount of power to come from the pulley, but what I received was good enough. The car is more eager to rev and the dull spot for us atx's at around 2600rpms is nearly gone. It gave the car more power from a stop to up top. It's a mod I would recommend to all atx's just to make driving around town much easier. As far as the ac and ps goes. Normally when we turn on the ac the car just loses all it's power. Well it doesn't happen anymore. You can't really feel when the a/c starts up and more. It's smooth like it should be. The steering is the same as before. I'd give it a 8.5 out of ten, because it's pita to do, but the gains are worth the 70 bucks (100 for others), especially for atx's.

Adam K ODP -

As for installation. I didn't know the altenator was that easy to take off. Well I took of the alt and wrapped a old belt around the existing pulley. Took a air gun to it and the pulley came right off. Put the new pulley on tightened it up and put it back on the car.

I have a avionixx 800.2 that puts out 1000watts at 12.5v. It's powering my 15 inch ED Design woofer. Now before the pulley if I turned up to to 20 the lights would start dimming and thats at low volume. If I go higher the amp and deck would shut off (small wires and settings have to do with it also), and this is with the ac and headlights off and at idle. So to test it I turned on a Lil Jon Song(can't remember what it's called), because it has a constant bass note. Turned my deck up to the level where my ears can't take it no more, ac on and headlights at idle. No dimming whatsoever. None at all. I still can't believe it. Same settings and wires. All I have to say is this pulley is amazing, and whoever has a udp, needs to get this odp. Problem with that is he's almost out of them. He doesn't plan on making anymore either so get in touch with Adam K!

I have the mpx pulley and love it. My car revs quicker and smoother. Also peppier even with the a/c on cars a little pepier. I was having charging problems even without my subs so i got the Adam_k. Alt overdrive pulley. Now everything works perfectly and my car feels way better. For now on I recomend underdrive and overdrive pulleys for and one with and engine.

He told me that is was going to stop making them, but I think he had a change of heart. Search for him and make sure. It's only the best 55 bucks you'll ever spend.... besides the whore last week :).

I can vouch for both of these on an 01 magnum myself too. Car's peppy, and no dimming lights or battery warning idiot lights at idle thanks to adam's pulley. He should sell the specs and the design to one of the larger houses and let them churn them out.

whats the purpose of any pulley if you have an overdrive and underdrive. the purpose to underdrive ur alt is to keep more power to the engine and less charge to the alt when driving. so im guessing the overdrive pulley overdrives ur alt so u can get the charge needed. is it me or should the two pulleys just cancel each other out

well the underdrive pulley drives the alternator AND the PS pump/AC(if you have it) compressor in those combos on 2 pulleys. The PS and AC don't see too much of a difference when you turn them more slowly, but the Alternator just isn't going fast enough if you have your rear defroster on, the radio, headlights, and the climate control system when you're driving at night and you're keeping your windows clear. Yeah, some of the drag comes back because you're getting back close to the stock ratio for the pulleys, but you still aren't getting it as bad from the 2 pumps.
