Neon No More

Post by Bluefox » Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:33 pm

As many of you may or may not know, last week I finally got out of the Neon scene. It was by my own choice, so there's no need to ask if I am all right.

Unless you count what I'm driving now, then you can ask if I'm all right. :?

Image

Yes, that's the 2007 Dodge Caliber.

I was among the first in the nation to have one, I'm told. I was also the first one in north Texas to have one. Walked out with it just under $20K

I'm still around, as you can see, and I don't plan on going anywhere unless asked to do so. Still writing stories, too.

Just a heads up, in case anyone was wondering why the devil my sig was all strange...

Stories are the same. It's just the car that's changed.

On both points, I like the Caliber, I'd rather have a GTi or an A3 but still.
And stories are strories, no matter what car they are in.

Is the back seat big enough?

Back seats are big enough for three good sized adults. It's quite roomy.

I have a write-up of it somewhere I'll post if I can remember where it is. o.O

Car's got more get up and go than the Neon did, mate. ;) Makes for better stories that way.

Leg room for the driver is very good, and the adjustable seat can give you more or less depending on your driving style.

The price was far better than any SRT that I had seen leading up to the purchase. Every new one that was on a lot was going for well over $22K and I am not going to buy a used one. I had been searching for a Caliber since the begining of February and got extremely lucky, as there were only two reported in the DFW area that weekend. The other one was said to have been sold in Dallas and taken to Arkansas. So, I think it was well worth it. :)

It's actually not a bad car, dispite what everyone on the Org thinks. Well worth the money.

Eeew! No more pics!!

 Just playing... Kinda'. Interesting, yet ironic choice for a new car... As long as you're happy though.

Yeah . . . 20k is alittle pricey for the Pontiac Vibe knock off . . . .

But man - Seriously - dont listen to other people - you cant make everyone happy - just yourself : )

I have a feeling the caliber will start to grow on people - espeically once the SRT verison comes out - me - I'll probably never like it . . .Ive never liked hatch's

Good luck with the new ride -

Yeah fox dont listen to me im being a jerk, if you like it and ur happy, its alllll good.

BUT, lets clear one thing up. The caliber is absolutely not a hatch, its a small SUV. if anyone thinks that thing is a sport compact or anything close to it, theyre way off! totally different market-

It's officially a "crossover" vehicle. It's closer to a hatch than a SUV.

It was actually $19,015 with all the options factored in. Base was $15,025, if I remember correctly.

I would of bought a used SRT-4 with that kind of money. Calibers are a mistake by Dodge.

Used SRT-4's are not a wise purchase.

I would never buy a used SRT-4. But then, I am looking for a more luxurious and bigger car for my next one. I guess I am growing up. :D

There is nothing wrong with hte Caliber though. I think it will do very well and will be very popular for people looking for a all around car.

The Caliber is a car. It is not large enough to be a SUV, seats too few to be a minivan, and doesn't haul enough to be a truck. ;)

It's a crossover, a small car that can carry more cargo than a standard sedan.

I suppose if you call a PT a car, then the caliber might as well be one too.

What else would you call a PT? The PT is most definately a car, and so is the Caliber.

^^ agreed

it sure as hell isnt an SUV . . . .

My jeep cherokee was an SUV

Honda CRV's are barely "suv's"

The caliber is not an SUV . . .

I like it - but would have gotten an RT! :)
Actually, tell us, how does it drive? That is the big thing I want to know. Does it drive like a truck or a car? Do you sit high in the cab or low like the neon? Does it handle like a car or a truck? Does it feel like it drags a little, torquey? or does it giddy up and go?

Cool beans dude! I am begining to think that would be a good car to get in the future! Maybe a used 2007 RT in the year 2008? :)

It handles more like a car than anything else, and gets up and goes faster than stock second gens. You sit higher than the Neon but not as high as you would in a truck, and it rides very smooth and isn't affected by wind as much as you would think. It will easily reach its top speed, which I'm guessing is around 120.
