What is Roach using? He is 400+ WHP :D Hawk HP+ is saposed to be good stuff, but break dust like crazy. Anybody heard of any ceramic break pads available?

hawk makes ceramic pads now, i dunno if they have our app tho. pads arent the only thing needed to stop that much power, you should def upgrade the whole system if you havent already. only thing about those high perf pads is they wear out rotors and make tons of noise/dust. so i guess it depends on whether were talkin about a street driven car or not.. you have a 400hp neon? mmm

In the scc mag it says that roach is using slotted rotors with I belive Hawk pads and stock rear disks.........so pretty much a stock setup with upgraded front rotors........but I belive that he is using steel braided brakelines which is very significant in stopping alot of speed

If you're going with that much power why not upgrade to SRT knuckles and then go with a nice big brake setup like Willwood, StopTech, or the hella expensive Brembo kit ..

wisher- pretty sure the braided lines have nothing to do with stopping power. those are for pedal feel.

diablo- thats a good point, IF he races the car. For street use ANY big brake kit is overkill IMO. even upgrading to srt rear isnt gonna make much of a diff since the bias is like 80% front anyways.

I say upgrade rotors (no need for slots/drills unless ur worried about heat), and get some good ol Hawk pads and youll be set. I wanna know more about the 400hp neon this shits for...

Actually......original rubber hoses age, they tend to swell when the brakes are engaged, which results in a spongy brake pedal and reduced stopping distance.

When upgrading to steel braided hoses, aside from eliminating sponge like feel, you are also upgrading the Integrity of the hose to do it's job of containing the pressure applied to the calliper in turn keeping the true integridy of pressure used.

I am reciting directly from the mag now

"Even though brakes are important for a car with this much go, his current setup relies primarily on stock components. Hawk pads spueeze the 9-inch vented disks, while the original rear drums have been replaced with discs."

now I was wrong about him upgrading to steel lines but it would help dramatically with some new pads as well as some good rotors!

I have Hawk HPS pads and SP Performance slotted and cross drilled rotors. Stops 100% better than w/ the stock stuff...Should have more info in ink in a few days :D lots of dust from the pads, but well worth it

Green stuff pads and OEM 2nd gen rotors is always good. I put that on 1st gens, and my car and it feels much better than stock, doesnt add weight, and have yet to have a problem on the street or autoX. Very little dust and noise too.

stock srt brakes here and they stop the car (350ish whp) quite well, never giving me much to be scared about. 400hp shouldnt automatically mean you're gonna be doing 120+ all the time and need to slam the brakes and come to a complete stop; just coz you can accelerate very fast, doesnt mean you'll necesarily go at a higher top speed; for street use i would stick to some hawk pads and slotted rotors. there will be a little bit of glazing on your pads from repeated hard brakes, so why not scrape that away every time and have fresh material ready to bite when the rotors cost the same as OEM blanks? i dont agree with agressive pads eating the rotor though from what i've seen on my sx (1.5 sets of HP+ pads on powerslot rotors and there is only minimal wear on the rotor).

if you're gonna race, you have no excuse not to upgrade to srt knuckles. they'll open a huge door to the aftermarket that neons could only dream of, including light weight disks and shiet
