I am wiring up my new harness and such for my new CD player and I realized that I have a 2nd gen install face plate bracket in my parts bin in my basement. I know it was out of a 2000 model year car. Will it bolt up fine in 2004 or should I just go buy a new one? I have to get an antenna adapter as well (just in case) so I need to know before I make the trip back to the stereo shop.
Thanks!

The faceplate should be the same, I don't think they changed much for the interior. You probably won't need the antenna adapter either (from memory of my install).

faceplate is the same and no need for the antenna adapter.

That is what the guy behind the counter said. No antenna adapter needed. That is cool. I tried to get him to sell me one just in case I needed one (gotta set those presets ASAP, you know) and he insisted I didn't need one. Ah well. If I need one, I will just have to listen to MP3s for awhile and get back in there to hook up the radio later on.
And yeah...sorry to be all code-like with the MY stuff. But, I wanted to get it all across in the title what I was looking for so I got a quick answer.

All right...I went to put it in and I can't get the antenna to work. It simply doesn't go into the new unit. Maybe it is my model but I need an antenna adapter.

We had a problem similar to this when I wanted to put my 01 stock radio in my friends 03 neon. wouldnt fit at all, the connector at the back was different.
So..not exactly the same situation, but thought id share anyway

Well, apprently I DO need an adapter. And they run about $12 at Best Buy. Fine by me. As long as I can get the damn thing installed this weekend, i will be fine. If not, I am gonna sell it and buy that Panasonic I wanted off Crutchfield and get EXACTLY what I need included in the price.

Got it in now. Makes my stock speakers sound reasonable, but I am sure with a few good spring drives with the windows down and the tunes up they will fall to the way side. Then in go my new Audiobahn 6.5's and JVC 3 way 6x9s (shut up! I knwo they don't "match" but the sound combo is very nice together from what I have heard (with my own ears))

The stock 6 speaker system my 05 came with bumped pretty good for stock, I think they're just decent stock speakers.
Still. My new custom 8 speaker system dwarfs it.
