Stock CD Changer Q

Post by kaj27 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:41 pm

My '03's 4 Disc Changer is on the fritz!

It plays discs fine. BUT! when I want to change to the next disc it hums for a moment then I get a 'ERR' on the display.

I took it out and opened it up to see what the deal was. I didnt see any damage. I did think maybe it needed to be lubed? I also tried to see the action take place while it was open. Well it obviously has a sensor to tell that its open; cause it didnt work!

Anyone ever have experience with this issue?

some units have security features on them, for when they get stolen. they tend to not wanna work, its a deterent for homo's that try to steal crap from ya. but ya even if its your own car.... its a pain, id definately have dodge or chrysler take a look at it.

Well its very doubtful that is the issue.

See it works still. It plays discs fine. It just wont switch discs. Like I said in the orginal post.

But thanks.

Too bad im out of my warranty.

It seems I'll either have to buy one or see if I can fiddle with it some more.

My changer did that when I very first bought it off ebay. I had to take it to the local car audio place, where they took it apart and cleaned it. The said they didn't fix anything that they knew off, but when I put it back in, it worked fine, and has ever since. Might want to just look into taking it somewhere you trust and seeing what they say.
