Good Places to Lift Your Neon (56k warning)

Post by racer12306 » Tue Mar 21, 2006 1:34 am

As I said I would I took some pics from under the car of places where I think would be good places to lift up the neon, with a lift or jack.
Image

Here is a good spot for the front. The frame directly behind the outrigger is another good place to lift.

Here are good solid places to lift in the back.

Of course the very back between the rear tires is a solid place to lift.

I believe you can set a jackstand under this part of the frame. I wouldn't put a jackstand under the a-arm. It may be ok, but I personally wouldn't do it.

If there are any question let me know and I'll try to answer them. The places that the outriggers are, are the places that I have picked up my neon ever since I bought it new, about 10 - 14 times. Never been any defelection.

Disclaimer: I am not responible if for some reason your vehicle slips or falls off a jack/jackstands. I assume no responsibility. Lifting up a car can be dangerous, practice safe techniques.

i noticed with a smaller sized jack with a small saddle, it puts alot of pressure onto one spot and on my car has even started to bend in those areas where you have the lift pads

i think the spots you mentioned for the front and back are the spots i like to lift and support the car with, they are easy to get to and very sturdy

you might be able to put a small piece of wood on the jack to reduce the pressure put on the one spot.

also, my first post is edited with disclaimer.

Yes, you're supposed to put a piece of wood (or something else wide, flat, and sturdy) to distribute the pressure evenly.

The pics that Racer has of where he lifts the car, is the same exact spot I use to lift the car. And because I don't have a lift, I place the jackstands where Praesepe does.

Nice pics all around!

yea a piece of wood would distribute the weight, but i have to drive my front tires onto 2x6's just to fit a jack underneath. if i wanted to fit a jack and a piece of wood id be in some trouble  .

on a side note, a while back i picked up one of the $100 aluminum racing jacks to replace my smaller one and that thing is awesome, i feel it was definitely worth the investment

my craftsman racing low pro-jack was a bit over 100 i think and i got it at sears. great investment if u have plans to jack a lowered car, its only three inches tall, and will reach a jack point on a STOCK height car in ONE pump of the lever.

thanks for the pics racer good job

i got mine from pep-boys.. didnt really have to time to shop around or order online cuz i needed it that day lol. i still have to drive up on something to get the jack far enough underneath because i go in straight through the front to lift from the middle. i cant get a jack behind the front tires because of the side skirts :?
