wheel hop is when your basically giving the car too much gas and your wheels are just spinning or "hopping"...a good way to eliminate wheel hop is a nice set of motor mounts and i believe a transmission mount can help as well...i believe modernperformance.com has some good sets of motor mounts but i'm not sure if hey have a transmission mount...also some of the vendors on srtforums.com sell some great racing motor mounts...be aware that once you put these in though, the cabin of your car will rattle like crazy till the mounts settle in and soften up a bit, because these mounts reduce all vibration in the motor area, putting the strain on other parts of the car...jeeze, maybe someone can simplify what i said, i just realized i wrote a book, haha.

wel the wheels aint spining, i think it might b 2much gas but i try to easy my pull offs, but it always feels like a learner driver pulling off but if i keep the clutch a bit more then i end up reving a bit too much. also when i cruse in 1st and i let go of the throttle remaining in 1st then the car dips and dips( not sure if u get what im saying).

As far as the "Dips" go - youll notice a big difference if yhou get a good muffler and a Cold Air Intake (CAI) - You may have also notices a "bog" when you go from 1st to 2nd ? If so - Those will help that as well

As far as wheel hop - the best way to kill it is motor mounts (as mentioned before)

Simply wheel hop is when you try to go fast quick and instead of taking off nice and smooth your car is jumping and lurching around and loosing traction. Motor mounts will soften or even kill wheel hop depending on which mounts you use.

ya i also thought it could b d muffler, its startin2sound a lil funny. wel im not sure wat u mean by 'bog' but ive never had a smooth change frm 1st to 2nd but now its gettin worse, and it happens even frm 3rd to4th. u don think it could clutch related? how does1 check that their mounts r stil ok or should we jus replace dem? thanx for al ur feed backs.

You can do a visual check of the mounts to see if you need new ones. if the rubber material is broken then you need new mounts.

To test the clutch, drive in 5th gear and drive so that your RPM's are at about 1500RPMs then floor it. if the RPM's go up and you dont go faster your clutch is slipping. if the car slowly go's faster and the RPM's gradually go up then your clutch is good.

Its just a basic test that should give you an idea.

thats normal, its just the strain on the car from WOT when the rpms are super low. if the clutch slipped it would rev and no power would get to the wheels.

as far as wheel hop, just dont launch hard and you wont have a problem. If youre racing, go for the motor mounts to avoid wheel hop. wheel hop is terrible for cars, it is known to effectivly break axles and cause other damage as well (clutch, tranny). just drive normally and theres no way theyll hop.

dont even bother putting them in if they are streets, theyre so soft!

i have the 'race' prothanes in the bottom mount and i have the solid JLM billet upper mount (i kinda had to with going to a longtube header and all)

you cant help the "dips" unless you go to a stiffer suspension and motor mounts - thats all part of having a manual transmission is that you cant shift as fast as an auto and thats why you feel the movement of the engine when you shift

picture this - the less wheel hop, the harder the motor mounts youll need (solid mounts work best), but the interior vibrations also increase as well.... youll have to find a nice medium between comfort and performance

i get wheel hop at 4700rpm right before my magnum kicks in..the reason for this is that i have sticky tires that dont slip or squeek when u launch the car hard..only wheels hops a little and makes scratching noise like its peeling off..thats y my car pwns at starts...i luv it :D
