mag intake and turbo ?

Post by UMKCNeon04 » Sun Apr 02, 2006 10:44 pm

need a quik reply. i have an offer to buy a mag manifold and 60mm tb for cheap. now i am planning on going turbo hopefully next winter or next summer. should i save money for turbo or should i get mag manifold. i really just need to know how the mag manifold reacts with the turbo and if having secondaries have any value with boost. thanks for any help offered.

I have a mag intake with boost, it works ok. I dont know if the secondarys are working because I cant hear them anymore, but theres no side effects of using it. Its not the best manifold for a turbo, but will hold you over untill you get a turbo.

haha the plastic "crap" one is better actually

2 reasons
1 its plastic, doesnt heat soak like the metal ones do
2 all runners are the same no casting flaws less resistance

^good point on the heat soak, but dont the mag manis flow more air compared to the plastic one, even tho there are casting flaws?

Yea... you gotta point... But you do have to...

2 things....
(1) takes in more air....
(2) lets face it... it looks so much better...

ehhh it uses velocity effect i really wont say takes in more air. when you boost your actually causing more resistance. thats why on a boosted engine the indy is actually better than the magnum intake manifold or a custom short runner manifold. if you ask me the magnum manifold is worse cuz of the 2-1 runner deleat that then its good but stock form you provide lots of flow issues

technically it wont really matter unless you port the head to match the mag intake  otherwise, the air comin thru the mag intake will just bottleneck at the head

umm the intake ports are about .00002 of an inch different from the magnum to non magnum. no need. we arnt talking about a dohc/sohc intake ports which are different. the only things different on the mag head, cam, springs, and exhaust ports
