upgrading fuses?
i have a pioneer headunit. was wondering what would be the best way, upgrading the fuses from 10 to 25amp or just run a straight wire to the headunit from the batter? see, when i turn it up i have good thump but the headunit kind of dims (flashes when the bass is turned up) when i turn up the vol. i dont have subs because the pioneer speakers i got, give me the thump i want. also, on the fuse box, what fuse is for the radio? thanks.

The back of the fuse cover should tell you. It will say radio. As for the diming...I don't think upgrading just the wire to your head unit will do anything. The wire running it should pass enough current or they wouldn't sell it. Every pioneer I have ever owned has done just fine and I had a lot of shit hooked up to them.
My question would be does anything else dim...like headlights, guages? If they do, your battery might not be up to par.
Also check the power wire connection. It could be coming apart.

There are a few solutions to your problem and upgrading a fuse and wiring should DEFINITELY NOT be an option. This could cause more problems than it could help, especially if wires crossed somewhere or something shorts out. Fire!!
If you're running into dimming problems with the car's lighting, you could try a new battery (depending on how old your current one is), a better battery like an Optima or just a higher CCA/CA rated battery, and/or relocating/upgrading the stock grounds under the hood of your car.
If the lighting on your headunit is, in fact, dimming to the bass, just make sure you have good connections to the power wires. Upgrading wires on a deck is a bad idea.

well, its just my headunit. all my interior lights are fine. crisp, clear sound but as the bass hits, the light or the backround on the headunit as you would say dims. some people advice me to run straight wire from the battery to the headunit.
i used to have an 86 baron turbo vert' that i upgraded the radio fuses from 10 to 25 amp on the fuse box and the headunit and it solved the problem with having the backround dim once the bass hits. i know not to go with a 30amp which would most likely melt the wire.

You could try running a wire straight to the battery, but make sure you use an inline fuse to prevent issues. And as long as you're comfortable 'upgrading fuses', then go for it.03neonSE wrote:well, its just my headunit. all my interior lights are fine. crisp, clear sound but as the bass hits, the light or the backround on the headunit as you would say dims. some people advice me to run straight wire from the battery to the headunit.

the problem is your speakers are wanting to pull more power than the head unit will put out, thus creating the power drain causing the lights on your HU to dim. if it were me, I would get a simple 4-channel amp, and hook up the speakers to that and run the amp directly from the battery, that way you save your HU from dying.
Upgrading the fuse in your box, wont help. And directly connecting the HU to the battery will cause alot of electrical interference with your radio. And you will hear alot of "noise" through your speakers.
Cheap 4-channel amp is the way to go.
