Post by teamliviD » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:47 pm

ok, since they dont make one for a r/t, i was wondering if all i have to do is obb-long some of the holes that i'll be fine right? this is what ive been told before. the reason i ask is because im picking one up tomorrow for $100. i had one on my black r/t before and it was ok but i never obb-longed the holes(to much in a hurry to get it on). what do you guys think? i plan on getting it jet coated when i buy it, just so you know. thanks for the help again!

i dont know what you guys are talking about because the first time around i had a non-mag header on my r/t and it matched up fine. now that i have a so-called 'magnum-specific' header it didnt line up so well

that picture is a great pic to show why the version 2 fastfab (if you can get one) is a much better choice. the ports on the fastfab are the same size as the gasket. that pic looks like you're shooting golf balls through a straw.

yeah, but I doubt the stock RT ports are as big as the gaskets are, right?

are you sure about that? I mean, i'm not doubting you at all, but when I got a new gasket and lined it up on my V2 Fastfabs header, the ports on the gasket were smaller than those on the header...now I'm wondering if i should take it off and buy a new one and have the ports on the gasket cut to match the ones on the header...

well let me clarify a little. .last post was a LITTLE misleading.

if you look at the gasket. .a new one, there's the very inside of the port on the gasket, then there's what looks to be a tiny circle. my pipes landed right about there. just a hair bigger all around.

and the ports on the head are not as big as the gasket, tho they are not that small either. they run 1-5/8th's if i believe. the ff v2 being 1-7/8's. so picture about a 1/8 inch all around and there's your port. also, they're offset. you can see they're not centered in that picture. that's why its recommended you slot the bolt holes in the afx.

also, the magnum header (stock) sort of has a bell shape to each primary, the primaries on mine looked like they almost matched the gasket judging by the built up carbon, but the pipe quickly shrinks down...like a bell.

tho little differences, and im sure differences that don't take a huge effect on power output of your motor, i just happened to be that picky when building mine. and imo, it paid off. with the weight reduction and mods i had, i had what alot of neon guys called a car that was "too fast for the mods it has".. . i wasnt complaining tho
