Bumper Conversion Question

Post by WiTeOuT » Fri Apr 14, 2006 6:49 pm

Hey people. Well sorry if this is already a topic somewhere.... I just thought it would'nt be. OK so here is my question, very important and if anyone could help asap I would LOOOOVE it!

I was wondering if it's possible to put a 2002 front Bumper on a 2000. NOW I had thought this was very possible because the headlights are the same, but when I hit a Semi Truck tire and had to get it replaced about 6-8 months ago, I asked and the shop doing the work said it would cost alot of money because there are different hook ups or something... I did not get a good explanation. I know some people have done this out there so I need some advice before taking it in to a shop because......

Today some idiot woman in a Honda Civic pulled out into on comming traffic because she did'nt want to wait to turn into a gas station and hit me head on!! The good news everyone is this..... her '04 Civic was in horrible shape compared to the neon!! HOOO RAHH neon! So anyhow, My hood needs to be replaced, front bumper, and my fender was pushed back so that I cannot open my passenger front door without scraping the fender.

So THANKS for any and all help and/or suggestions people! Your the best.

2000-2002 fits all the same. The shop rat is just on glue.

2003 fits just the same, only headlights need to be swapped.

They are the same. Headlights are the same, and the bumper will bolt right up.

hey!!! that sucks about your wreck :(

I took got hit by a 96 civic this week (wednesday). their car was in worse shape than mine, but they are both basically totaled (my daily, not the blue car)

so now the score is: neon (2) - civic (0)

glad to hear you are okay!

THANKS for all the input people, In all my years of neon owning I knew that this should be possible. It's just that THIS time around I wanted all of my knowledge ammunition with me when going to the shop to get it fixed. I appreciate the feedback so quickly.

Also.... as "Blue Dragon" said.. I had a question about an SRT-4 hood working on the 2000. I know the fender cut is the same around all 2000+ neons, I just did'nt know about the headlight part. I'm just trying to collect some info since I will be getting a new hood....MWWWWAAAAAAAUUUUUHHHAHAHAHA!! The only good thing a Honduh ever did was hit me!

Ok not to be repetitious (sp?), but does anyone know if an srt-4 hood fits on a 2000 neon? I know the fender cuts are the same, but I believe the headlight cuts on the hood are different. Any deffinate answer would rock. Looks like the neon will be in the shop at the end of this week! Keep your fingers crossed.

I believe the cuts are exactly the same,.. it is just that the front of the SRT hood is a lil longer, my car is a 2000 witha SRT hood,. but i swapped headlights also,.. but it has the 00-02 kit front.

hmmm true...but still, I always wondered why it was always that 03+ were 2nd gens too, even though there were changes. I guess because the essenials didnt change.

Same frame, different tranny, different body parts, different interior. Only thing thats the same is the engine and the frame... I always thought it should be called 3rd generation. I guess since most parts are compatible thats why its lumped into one generation.

well, theres only a few body changes... front bumper and headlights, rear bumper and tails, and wheels if you want to count that. Interior is mostly the same too, diff steering wheel, dif interior colors. As far as performance, only major differences are plug connectors, the NGC, and the tranny.
