Is the SRT4 worth it????
Is the SRT4 worth it????
O.K. I have been hearing a lot of mixed views about the SRT4. I am in the market for one and everybody is telling me "its just a neon so that means its still a piece of shit".
I was just wondering has anyone had any problems with the SRT4's and is the engine strong enough to handle hard driving and adding more boost for track racing?
oo stock neon today, 05 srt4 tomorrow.
For the people that says its just a neon, make sure u own them when you get it. Get it.....

The SRT4 is an awesome car, I wish I had one. The only draw back is that it shares the body with an economy car, and its FWD. But thats also a plus side, when you pull next to some middle aged man in his weak ass V6 mustang convertible, you can easily blow his doors off.00neon wrote:O.K. ask anyone who knows anything about engine's and they will tell u the 2.4 srt engine is BUILT specifically to handle hard driving and tons of POWER otherwise why would a company build a piece of junk they know people are going ot upgrade and actually develop parts from their own money in order just to have it break down. if a stock motor with an upgraded turbo and pretty much stock everyhting else and can handle 500 hp then it's TOUGH as hell (unless it was made prior to 1980...but that's a different story) just a neon that stock can blow the doors off any stock car, in the sport compact class that is, away. that's why i love neon's and srt's....people don't realize what they have. i have an sxt and i can own stock civics, lancers oz's, and a few others even some with minor upgrades with my little "neon". mine just has custom duals and i beat a 02 civic with DC header, exhaust, and short ram intake. i pulled on him from start to finish. i'd gladly take my reg. neon over any other car with the exception of the srt which i too will own in a short amount of time. then the money u save on it compared to others u can use to upgrade and really make those people eat their words...do it or i'll find u and hurt u

It gets really good mileage actually. My buddy has one, it gets the same miles to the tank as my 02 SXT.00neon wrote:yeah I kinda though the same thing, once I get it and then put my touches on it then I will go back to them and see what they say. Is it pretty good on gas? How good of a daily driver is it?
Yeah um, bullshit or he is stock and never has done past 5 pounds.streetracerSXT wrote:It gets really good mileage actually. He doesn't race every mustang, camaro, trans am, or ricer he comes across. I've been with him when he was running low on gas, and his trip-o-meter was always close to what I get.noTe wrote:Yeah um, bullshit or he is stock and never has done past 5 pounds.streetracerSXT wrote:It gets really good mileage actually. I don't race every car I come upon either. Actually I only race against people I know and it is planned.streetracerSXT wrote:He doesn't race every mustang, camaro, trans am, or ricer he comes across. No where near as good as my R/T.... there, does that answer your question? lower gas mileage... rougher trans... stiffer clutch... lot more power to the wheels makes wet takeoffs harder... traffic driving is harder... etc.00neon wrote: How good of a daily driver is it?
Still a decent daily driver, just not a "good" one, when the SRT owners in my club drive my car they say it's like you could do it in your sleep. When i drive their cars, traffic and pedal play seems labor intensive.
But if you ask me, the SRT-4's ability to school cars twice it's price makes up for all that.

And an acr is even better than that. But an srt-4 motor in my acr would be the ultimate. Best of both worlds like acr bill has done.... Then I could build my magnum for my truckNightspy wrote:No where near as good as my R/T.... there, does that answer your question? lower gas mileage... rougher trans... stiffer clutch... lot more power to the wheels makes wet takeoffs harder... traffic driving is harder... etc.00neon wrote: How good of a daily driver is it?

you could probably go get your "umadbro" polished up to make it look like a new comeback againtitansxt wrote:I hear the whats it called, Dodge Neon, is a good car.
OK... as one that had a 01 atx... one that has driven a 03 R/T... and one that owns a 04 srt... If you have the money... if you have the interest in a car that has the best bang for the buck in power, it is the car to get... Main components are way over built... from my understanding, the internal are rated for around 500hp... if your into modifing... you can buy bolt on mods... it is a amazing car
for the people that say, its just a neon, its most the Sti and Evo people, just turn around and say "yea, nice Imprezza or Lancer you got there" in the end, if you take the difference in cost between a srt and either a sti = $35k or a Evo = 35k.... if you were to dump 10k on to a 20k car... you will own the streets... my buddy in CSC just got stage 3 installed... and according to the numbers he should be at 330hp for about $2600, he will own the street once he breaks in the new turbo and the car learns
as for the milage... even with conservative driving, for the first 10k miles... you will be around 17-20 miles per gallon, but after that, you just up to about 26mpg... but com'on, with if you have a turbo on u'r car, you are not going to be much of a conservative driver... u'r going to want to feel the power, feel how the car presses you into u'r seat, and during those runs... you will be anyware from 13-17mpg
Buy it... and you won't regret it
