I may be a new registrant, but I have been surfing this site for months, and now have a reason to post:
The third spark plug well is saturated with oil, and the metal tube that extends into the valve cover is raised about 1/4 of an inch. I know the oil leak is caused by a bad gasket, but now I cant even get a socket around the spark plug to pull it out.
Will the stuck spark plug stop me from getting the valve cover off, and what kind of effect does the oil in the well have on the car's performance? Is the spark plug useless now?
Any kind of help or information would be appreciated...

if the spark plug tube is raised then it isn't a gasket problem. The same thing happened to my 3rd spark plug tube. You can still take off the valve cover without any problems. to fix this I removed the valve cover, bunched a towel up on top of the 3rd spark plug seal and tapped it with a hammer a few times. It went back in its rightful place and hasn't been leaking as much oil in the 3rd tube since. I'm sure a rubber malet would work better for this application. I assume the reason that you can no longer remove the 3rd spark plug is it is too far down with the tube sticking up like it is.
I didn't have any problems caused by this. I have heard of other people misfiring because of oil in their spark plug tubes.

I had oil in the number 2 spark plug tube of my 2002...I just got a new gasket set, and it didnt ever start leaking again. the tube itself wasnt stuck up, so I dont know about that part, but my spark plug tube seals were bad and thats how oil was getting in mine.
I guess its still fine...I had the gaskets on there about 3 weeks and then I had my accident so Im not sure.

Thanks for the input...
I noticed it has been missing under acceleration, so its going "under the knife" tommarow. I really hope replacing the spark plug seals doesnt tun into replacing the cylinder head.
