Ok i need to vent, my hand hurts & now i have a hole in the wall to patch this weekend Anyways, the wife has been bitching that i don't "consult" her when I want to do something new with my car. The reason I don't is because we get into an arguement about doing something new to the car every time.

Well i decided i want to go back to a stock hood. $40 no problem right? well i post my Stock SRT4 hood on neon boards just as a feeler to see if i could get any buyers. Well i found a few in houston, so i decide to break the news to the wife. Well she gets pissed because i didn't talk to her first about trying to find buyers for my SRT4 hood & she says we can't afford the other hood

I mean common its 40 bucks & maybe another 100 to get it painted. Thats fucking cheap. Well she gets pissed more & starts throwing the whole you just got the other painted (almost a year ago if i might add) & other BS, i wasn't really listening. I throw some stuff in her face about money, she gets more pissed & then i just get so pissed that i need to hit something. Hitting shit & breaking shit out of anger runs in my family, but i would never hit my wife. so i rip the mouse out of the computer, go figure, i was on the computer like always. flip over my chair & not the fucking hole in the wall

I just don't get it, we have spent well over a grand on her designer purses & its no problem. when i want to do something new or change something on my car it starts an arguement. It just gets me so pissed off that i just want to get rid of my car. And you guys know i would never sale my car if my life depended on it. For me to get so pissed off about this & to really want to sale my car, then somethings wrong. I just don't know what to do anymore. Its not like i am trying to put us into dept. I just wanted to go ahead & get this 40 dollar stock hood & then get it painted a month later down the road

lol thats a good one.................awhile back we got into an arguement over my probation. And she got fed up & said "fine go to jail, i don't care anymore"

I came back with "thats fine, the cooking is probably better there anyways" well i said that cause she doesn't cook anything unless its in the microwave.

i was kind of feeling for her until i read the designer purses part. i see it as you have your car and she has her purses. as long as either of you dont spend rediculous amounts of money that should have gone to other things, i believe its fine. major purchases probably should go through each other, to kind of keep each other in the loop so if the other knows about something that is expensive that is coming up and the money one is about to spend will be needed for that future thing.

i love cars. my fiance knows this and understands this. she knows that as soon as i can im gonna dump a lot of money into my monte, to the tune of ~$20000. i also know you likes her diamonds and jewlery, and a little bit of the designer purses. i understand this as she understands my car thing. but i do know one thing neither of us will spend money that we dont have on our hobbies or money that will be needed for more important things.

back when i use to live at home & had no bills I would blow my checks on my car. now that i am married & have bills i looks at things differently. We have about a grand in the bank right now & the only bills we have this week is the cable / interent, the water, & our cell bill. All 3 are a lil over 200 bucks. But we get paid every week. 40 bucks is nothing

i didnt mean to make it seem like your situation is an outlandish request. i agree that $40 is nothing to have an arguement that big about, unless there is like barely enough to cover your bills in the bank and your trying to buy parts for the car. its good that you look at money habits differently.

ever thought of a his hers and ours account setup. then there is your play money and her play money and if it works out right there should be plenty of money in the ours account for the bills and home repairs and such.

well what we do is, when we get paid we put 100 in savings & we each keep 50 cash. the rest goes into checking. that 50 has to last us till next time we get paid. but when we need gas we use the debit card for that, it doesn't come out of that 50. that 50 is for what ever we want

so if you want something that costs a few hundred you just have to save your remaining money for each week til you get it.

sounds like a good way to go about it. but unfortunatly im not to the point where we have to deal with two incomes and bills and such. but if it works for you then its good.

i'ld say it works, but the wife gets pissy anytime i want to mod my car. Her reason for me not to buy the hood is because i just got this one painted. july will be a year since i got it painted. & i have hd the hood for well over a year. she just doesn't understand the need to change things. My car is a show car & i can't leave it the same for too long. i mean some things are ok, but the gap on the hood has finally pushed me over the edge

one of my exs would do the same shit except expect me to throw down the same kind of $ on her car or said designer purses and shit >.< she ran shit LIKE we were married...was the last straw when she yelled at me and threw shit at me for buying a new mouse pad without consulting her lol Females just want to be part of anything $$$ i think...maybe its empowering for them?

mine throws a fit too... you gotta compramise, but make sure you still get what you want (as long as you guys can afford it).

heres my little secret:

anytime i wans something for the car, i think of something thats about 3 times more expensive. i bring it up in a conversation... i pretend to want it so bad that i do my best to convince her... well knowing that at the end she is gonna say no. but towards the end, i make my sad puppy face and say "well can i at least buy this.... "

Crucial, it seems like a really good system you've got going there. My fiance and I are trying to come up with a way to combine the finances once we're married so that bills and savings still get done but still keep the 'his and her's' stashes so I may just borrow that idea...

Designer purses? I thought I was bad spending $7 on a new purse every 6mos or so! I guess a hobby is a hobby though. I don't understand why she's getting all stressed about the hood though; do you question her what she does with her $5o? Why should she question you if its your play money anyway. There may be a completely different problem and she's using that as a way to vent. Yes, I will admit we are slightly illogical at times.

What is more expensive....a second hand hood or a couple dozen roses. Now tell me what is a waste of money.....at least you would have the hood 7 days later.
