P0300 - Multiple cylinder misfire

Post by kc2005ptgt » Fri Apr 21, 2006 7:23 am

Ok, I know what it means, and I know it is because if the high rpm in 3rd gear and the udp, but it is now on, and I tried doing the "remove the fuel pump relay" to reset - tried multiple starts, and still have a CEL. My only real concern (besides the light) is that I am wondering if it will 'mess' anythign up? Will it hinder performance, will it effect gas milage, will it make my car blow up?

Ok, lots of questions, I know, and I know I can remove the light if it bothers me, but being OCD, I know it is there and I cant help but 'fret' over it.

Anyway, I will try removing my positive cable and try removing the ECU relay, and if that do not work, and their is a problem or possible hazards, I will take it to the dealership. Oh well! I am waiting to see if BRR will chime in with some answers to the CEL on the 02, and if there is a cure.

I had this same problem on my car. I ended up changing the coil pack and that seemed to get rid of it. But that being said, this code can be caused by several reasons. I read somewhere that it could be due to the cat. But more simply start with the coil, wires, and plugs. Hope this helps. Paul.

It's your UDP plain and simple b/c you have an '02... it's perfectly normal for it to stay on sometimes and won't do anything to hinder performance. You probably kept the RPMs above 4500 for a longer period of time enough to make the PCM turn the light on and keep it on. Don't worry about it... after you drive it normal for awhile and after 50 starts or whatever it'll turn back off.

w3rd - as long as it does nothing to hinder my performance or harm the engine or cause any more problems, I am cool - just obsessing over it, that's all :)

You'll get used to after awhile... just check your codes every now and then to make it's not masking any other problems.

If you want to get it to stay lit (9which I doubt) then keep the rpms high and going for about 5 seconds or more, it will stay lit - mine did that for a good 5 months till it finally stuvk. I used to let off when it blinked, but this time I said ha, i will run it to redline and see what happens :) Now I see.

WOW. It went out on it's own. I pulled the FP Relay twice, and no such luck. Then, last night, after I turned it off and parked it for the night and went to bed, the CEL fairies came and granted me my one wish and turned it off for me.

Actually, I never even got a chance to unhook the battery, just the FP relay, snd that was three days ago. On my way to church this morning, I noticed that my car did not 'ding' at me after I started it and looked down and 'viola!' it was off. Pretty kick-booty!
