project: power options

Post by apk2k6 » Fri Apr 21, 2006 6:07 pm

I just started the project to install power locks, windows, and mirrors. I decided to make this post for all the help I may need along the way haha.

The first problem I ran into is, which bolts do I take off to remove the dash? I don't want to remove useless stuff haha. Here are some pics:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/ ... MG0490.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/ ... MG0491.jpg

In the last two pics, those are the ones I think I need to take off, but im not sure. If so, how could I get the black ones off?(the ride side of the dash) Thanks

O ya on the side of the dash, did I remove the correct screws or do I need to actually remove the bolt?

alright, well I unbolted the steering column and once I unplug some wires(couldn't finish, got dark and rainy) then I will be able to take the dash out and swap the harnesses. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this weeked, I need to go to school monday haha.

Here's where I'm at so far:

Here's the only part I needed for the power stuff, only this little connector and I had to switch the whole harness

Image

And here's where I'm at now, finished the dash harness, and I'm like half way through the body harness

I'll finish installing both harnesses tomorrow, and put the dash and everything back so I can drive to school monday. Probably won't have time to install the motors in the doors until a later time. But I have to go to work now, I'll keep everyone updated.

I need some help from Jason or someone who's familiar with this.

I have both harneses in and the car runs, but when I turn the ac on, the windshield wipers turn on haha, but when the ac(or fan) is on high, the wipers turn off and the ac works. I can move the wiper lever up and it will turn the ac down so it doesnt blow as hard. So somehow these two are mixed haha. I think its the two connectors on the dash.

Also, when I start up the car the tach goes a little crazy and in the mileage window thing it says "fuse", and beeps a few times. Does this mean a fuse is blown or something?

My car is apart still so if anyone wants specific pics, I'll take them : )

What year did the harness you're swapping in come out of?

It's an 03 or 04 harness, came from an srt4. I got the ac and wiper problem fixed, it was the 2 connectors I thought it was. Just need to get the light where the shifter is to come on.

Edit: the lights for the cluster and the hvac do not work either.

It's a fuse for the lights, but the fuse keeps blowing. Maybe a short or something? How can I fix that?

if it keeps blowing, you have the problem i had when i installed my tuner tails. Sounds like you have a positive wire groudning out somewhere. Check all of the wires for the dash lights and what not, and make sure that none of the wires are showing the bare wire inside, none of them are pinched (what i did) on a screw, and are all properly connected. I went thru about 10 fuses before i was smart enough to check my wiring.
