Oil in spark plug tube plus odd tube length....HELP!!

Post by dominiaa » Sat Apr 29, 2006 6:52 pm

So I experienced some rough acceleration the past few days. so I decided to finally install the NGK's and magnacore's I had sitting around. I was suprised to find a crap load of oil in two of the tubes. I figured it might be the tube seals, which I'll be replaceing when I put the new valve cover on.However, I notcied something wierd , the two plug tubes that were full of oil, stuck out further from the valve cover then the two which were dry. Anybody here of this situation before. On a side note, the acceleration problem cleared up with the new plugs, but the oil problem is probably what was the cause in the first place.

I had the same problem, oil in the tubes and the tubes being elevated, the thread is right here: http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=8257
All I did to fix the tubes was hit them with a rubber mallet and they went right back into place. I dont know if you are that comfortable doing that or not, but it worked for me.

I had the same problem also,.. I hit mine down with a mallet too,.. but it broke the tube seal (rubber piece,. pressed into inner- under side of valve cover, wraps around tube) SO I went to the stealership and got a new tube seal, changed it and the now fouled plug (+all the other ones) Easy fix,.. but it scared the crap outta me at first ....
