rant

Post by OB » Fri May 05, 2006 2:53 am

im bummed so you guys can hear me vent. my insurance is currently 175/mo for my 05 neon. AAA sent our renewal for the year about 2 weeks ago, and they quoted me at, brace yourself, 8000 dollars a year!!! yes thats more than 4 times what it is now. turns out i have 4 points on my record, and AAA decided to check my record NOW instead of when i got on the policy when i bought my car. long story short, my 2 tickets that i got (one in 04 one in 05, both over a year ago) and went to traffic school for never got taken off my record. the other is my accident from 2003, and the fourth is a speeding ticket also from 03 that couldnt be fixed. my traffic school can only find ONE of the certificates, so basically i have a fuckin extra point on my record that i cleared but cant prove. anyways, im lookin at about 500/mo for insurance starting tomorrw... im so bummmmmed. anyone have some advice (realistic)? :(

Holy shit thats a lot of money.

Realisticly, id look for a local based insurance company, they usually offer dirt cheap rates. That is, if you want to take that risk.

Thank God i have 0 points ;p

shopped around quite a bit. if i stayed with AAA it'd be more, 500 is the lowest est i can find. id rather go without it for ahwhile (like 50% of CA), but my dad and my loan wont let me. so im screwed. of course this all comes out now, when i need every last cent for the move in July...

I think you have more than 4 points on your record, maybe 4 violations and like 9 points ? Even mine with 7 points wasnt ANYWHERE near that high, only $250 a month full coverage+aftermarket insurance. I just turned 21 in January and all my points came off in February so im smooth sailing now :)

Double check with your insurance company and make sure you arent listed for like an SRT4 or a lamborghini or somethin

a lot of the cost depends on location.

at least you got it down to $6000/year. something does seem odd though.

Have you tried progressive.com ? They quoted me 97 for basic, and like 220 for full coverage. My sister has hella accidents and speeding tickets, and they gave her a good rate, i think she's going through them right now.

Dude...shop around, AAA is one of the most expensive insurance companies out there. I've got 21st century and they have always been very cool and cheap. Took better care of me than stupid ass State Farm.

gaico is kinda cheap, but they suck ass!

my company is USAA, its a military based company. its an awsome company, but they don't insure motorcycles anymore. so the bike is insured through progressive... which was pretty cheap considering i have two speeding tickets.

the best thing to do would be to look for a local company.

Sorry to hear that. You need to get old real fast, or get married and put it under your wife's name:) That's an insane price: double what my payment is. If it wouldn't ruin your credit, I'd give it back to the lender...

esurance.com never seemed to give me, or anybody else in my family, correct rates for some reason. They'd always be hundreds of dollars over what other companys quoted us.

I have a perfect record, and was quoted like 550, yeah right. Every other company was doing 200-300 for full.

I have State Farm and I pay $110 a month for the ACR and $130 for the Cougar. Both have full coverage and $100 deductable. I would never goto AAA. Also they have something called "insurance points" They arent on your driving record but they count against you on insurance. My Mom has worked for insurance company for years and I hear all the BS
