PCV hose on magnum

Post by daaboots » Mon May 08, 2006 10:56 pm

I'm installing a magnum intake on my non magnum Neon. I've noticed that the magnum engines have a very large insulated PCV hose. Does anybody know why its insulated? Can I just use some regular hose?

Thanks

I've wondered that too. Mystery to me though, doesn't seem to be a point to it. I'm using 3/8" fuel line from the VC down to my magnum mani, but 3/8" won't go over the barb on the manifold, so I used a short section of 1/2" heater hose as a coupler. You'll only need 2 inches of the 1/2". The 3/8" hose goes into 1/2" hose about an inch, and then the other inch of 1/2" slides onto the barb. I used a hose clamp to keep that short piece of heater hose on the 3/8" fuel line. Works great, 'cept I've got to change it a bit when I install my catch can that sitting at home right now. :)

It helps prevent blockage of the hose by keeping any oil that finds its way inside warm(er), so that it can more easily flow (into the intake manifold :D ). At least that is what I think.
