but a higher heat tolerance is always a good thing, it does get very hot out here! I wanna do braided lines as well. correct me if im wrong, but dont braided lines simply cover the rubber ones, preventing them from expanding? anyone have these on their neon? ive always thought that was a good idea, and its supposed to really bring solid pedal feel.

I thought braided lines were full replacements? That does not make sense to cover existing lines w/ braided line....

thats not what i heard. thats also what i thought. the braided lines keep the rubber from expanding, which elimintates mushy pedal feel and unresponsive brakes. your lines are only as good as your brakes though. It makes sense too, cuz the braided lines arent sealed, theyre just stainless steel woven, similar to a chinese finger trap :) . then again, I could be wrong, but thats what ive taken from what ive read and seen about braided lines (not only brake lines). anyone care to clarify?

Braided lines are replacement lines for the og's. They do not sleeve over your existing hose.....when using steal braided you take off your hose and replace it with the braided one. The braided hose is a rubber or silicone hose wrapped with steal woven braid.

Braided hoses are probably rubber inside, but they are complete hoses, not just sleeves.

If you're thinking of changing brake fluids, you have to change it all, because I'm pretty sure different fluids aren't compatible with each other. Changing the fluid is quite a big undertaking for sure. Like others said, you'll have to get all the fluid out of all the lines, the master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders and the front calipers.

If you have ABS you also need the DRB-III to open the ABS module to fully purge the old fluid out of it.

Some fluids you can not mix, you just have check to make sure what you're putting in is compatable with others. The car comes with DOT3, if you buy a DOT4 fluid make sure it says it's compatable with DOT3 also so they can be mixed.

so any dot 3 would work unless otherwise stated? i was just curious, its not like I take this car to the track all the time, but it gets its fare share of beating and I want a compliant brake system. I dont have ABS so i dont have too much extra to worry about, thats another + for non abs in my book.

thanks for the info on the brake lines. is it possible that some braided lines are made only to cover the factory lines? this would still do the job it seems, but i could understand why going with silicone would be a wiser decision and replacing everything. where can i find quality braided W/silicone lines for our cars? what is required to swap them in, just bolt off bolt on? thanks

I don't think anything you can cover the lines with will be strong enough to make any difference. The pressures inside brake lines get very high, I'm not sure, but I'm thinking it's above the 1000 psi mark, someone correct me.

I believe Grambo just got braided lines, PM him to ask where he got them from.
