Theres one here in my local town up for sale. There were only 500 of these bad boys made. Only one color too.. It has the famous 2.2 liter Turbo 2 in it. which produces 174 hp. It was looking like it needed a new paint job but the paint was still okay. The interior is emaculent with Shelby etched on the bucket seats. It has 93,000 miles. They are asking $4k. Oh yeah, the rims are made out of plastic..No joke.. check out allpar.com. I am thinking about getting it, but I bet if something went wrong with it it would be a PITA to find parts for it.
What do you guys think?

i dont think it would be too much of a pain. i think it would be the same as the other turbo 2's out there. i think you would want to get in touch with jonnymopar here. he seems to be in the know about the late 80s/early 90s turbo dodges.

they arent that ugly. i like the p-bodies. we ran a sundance/shelby csx clone a few years ago. it ran low 15s at only a little less than stock weight and an auto trans. the trans was a little specail.

if you need parts or help, go to www.turbo-mopar.com. people there are always selling parts, plus the p-bodies are easy to fix.

Wow, what a friggin beautiful car. That's MY kinda Dodge! By far my favorite P-body, being a one-year-wonder. The 87-88 CSX cars weren't nearly as cool as the 89's. 89+ shortblock is much stronger too.

One thing I'm confused on... I thought (could be wrong) that all the 1989 CSX cars had Turbo 4 engines (variable nozzle turbo). Same 174hp, more torque, virtually lag-free, but not as reliable. Have you looked at the car yet? If you haven't, or if you have and are planning to again, take a peek at the wastegate can and see if it has one or two ports on it. If it has two, then it's the Turbo 4 motor. Also, the wastegate can won't be screwed to the compressor housing like the Turbo 2's are.

Yeah, those composite wheels are friggin awesome. They're called "Fiberide" rims. Very hard to find. These cars are also part of a VERY small group of cars that got "SHELBY" written on the valve cover instead of "Chrysler TURBO". Watch how much those puppies go for on eBay if you ever see one.

NICE find I must say.

I love the V6 version of that car. My brother had a 90 Daytona with that V6 and that thing ran super smooth right to red line. Sucks that the 4-speed automatics sucked so bad and those 3.0's ate valve seals quick. With the 5-speed, they were really fun.

I already past on it. And within 3 days it was gone, so I am guessing someone bought it already. I just didn't want to go from an 01 to an 89. Who knows what was wrong with it. I so wanted it though.

Wait, were you gonna have that as your daily driver? If you were, then I hate to say it, but be glad you stayed with the Neon. I didn't know that was gonna be your only car. Still sucks that you missed out though. But as sweet as that car is, I would never rely on any VNT car for daily transportation unless I converted it to Turbo 2.

http://www.allpar.com/model/csx.html
Looks to me this particular year and model only had 2.2 turbo 2's in it...

Edit: The 1989 CSX was quite a departure. It had a more aggressive styling and many technical innovations. Shelby was finally able to get Chrysler to build the cars with a Turbo II engine and the A555 Getrag transaxle. This gives the 89 model the strongest drivetrain and engine bottom-end of any of the Shelby FWDs. Shelby modified the engines with a Variable Nozzle Turbo, which eliminated the turbo-lag and upped the torque by over 25 ft lbs

I guess not all had the turbo 2's in it...

and yes this would replace my Neon for a daily driver...
