i used to have the obx. it's good for a short tube and very easy to install. for better performance gains the tti is hard to beat and is about the same price. checkout www.manciniracing.com (i think that's it). also i like my thermal r/d exhaust, but others will chime in with various combos. personally i'm not a big fan of pacesetter. they have a history of rotting off of cars in short order. they may be better nowadays, but there are better alternatives in my opinion. good luck.

stay away from pacesetter, for the price of one of there mufflers you can get a DynoMax and do a custom setup. Depending on who you talk to here people are going to recomend numerous different manufacturers. If your new to the neon scene do a search on mufflers to see what others have done and recomend.
Also if you look hard enough people have submitted sound clips of there setups also..everything from a SRT cat back to complete $500 engine back systems...

look on www.howellautomotive.com under 2gn neons and their exhaust page. you'll find a brief description of the tti's there. you can also buy it there, or at mancini. i have heard that mancini has them a little more quickly. good luck.

x3 on the do not buy pacesetter - they rot and die before the first frost of winter. Also, do not buy from howell... you will be waiting for a millenia to get your stuff and most likely it will be all wrong. Anyway, I would personally get rid of that k&n attached to the TB and buy the eBay CAI for your car. then use your k&n filter, that will be awesome. Or just put your old box back in because all you are doing is sucking in warm air from the engine. One last thing - what is your goal with the car? Want to go all motor? Turbo? Nitrous Oxide? Daily Driver with a few extra hp's? If either of those, go with the 2.5" exhaust because you already have a mandrel bent 2.25" exhaust on your car. Why waste money?? If you are looking for more power and are going to get an OBX shorty, save your money and get a used mag header instead (same thing). Or go mid to long tube header. Just my two cents.

You will thank yourself if you decide to add a Cam, Mag head/intake or a P&P... your car will breathe better and thank you for it buy eating a focus or two each day. :) That keeps it happy.

Not true. From 1999 to 2001.5, the PL2s had 2" exhaust systems. Once the R/T and ACR were introduced, a change was made to give all Neons a 2.25" exhaust system. I know because I had a 4/99 mfr'd car.

And if I were you, Dude, I would simply save my pennies for the turbo system. You'll probably want to dump the 2.5" or any other all-motor exhaust system once you have it.
Fix it 'till it's broken. Then upgrade.

i believe that 01's had 2.25" piping, and that mid-year 02 was changed to 2". only way to tell for sure is to slap a caliper on the piping. if the o.d. is close to 2.5" then you know it's 2.25"i.d. if the o.d. is 2.25" then obviously the i.d. aint!

no they won't

The Borla Mid-Pipe is T304 Stainless and it doesnt have the stock resonators in it. Plus it's 2 pieces rather than just one.

sounds like a muffler/rear section would be the best choice for ya, cost wise. as everyone said, pacesetter is apparently complete crapola, but most other brands that make exhaust systems for the neons seem to have their praises and complaints. all are quality (borla, thermal, etc) companies so any would do. good luck

since your exhaust will have to be from a muffler shop. might as well get a long tube header to go along with it. and then you can just sell it once you go turbo, as you said.

was your question whether or not to get the OBX? IF so, ive heard good things about them. That header is the same as a Magnum (neon rt/acr) header and also the same as the Borla. from what ive heard, their ports are almost identical and the only differences are cosmetic (borla), but id sat go with the OBX or a mag if u can find one for sale used. they go fast so keep ur eyes peeled. any other questions about the header?

then what I said above is the way to go. the difference in power gain/loss/transfer is questionable. Longtubes are much harder to come by in my experience, so thats also good in your case since youre lookin for a short tube (mag/borla/OBX).

ya im thinking about the OBX but i cant really find anything about them online...ill be going to a place called speedsouth tomorrow..maybe they will be able to answer a bunch of my questions. but form what ive heard longtubes are for high end power and short tubes are for low end torque. is this true?

Ive heard many theories about headers, but id have to say that it depends on the car. Some may lose high end with a longtube while another car might gain. All I can say for sure is that any of those aftermarket headers (save the pacesetter perhaps) are better than the stock one. I think OBX has a website, but i dont know what it is for sure. anyone?

LT will help gain high end power and loose LOW end power - that is the common result. If you are going to go OBX, instead, go to your junk yard and find a smashed up r/t or acr and pull the header off of it - should run you no more than 50$ or find a used one here or on the other dotorg (Neons.org). You will save lots of money!

If you go the junkyard route, also pull the intake mani and head if still available!
