painted snowflakes
Ok, I want black rims, but I want to keep 15's and I love my snowflakes. I do not know anyone in town who does powdercoating (chime in if you are from KC area and know someone) which is the way I would prefer to go... so I choose the lesser of two weevils.... painted rims.
By the way, what ever happened to Kelly McGillis? Man she was hot in Top Gun.
So how hard is it to do, and how long does the paint last? Do I need to remove my tires? Do I have to sand my rims or just steel wool them to death? How clean do they have to be?? Should I paint the whole rim inside and out, or just what shows?? I know that is a lot of questions... but I am considering this, after seeing a flame red neon with black stock rims, I LOVE THEM! Anyway, thanks in advance for help and advice.

theres i think duplicolor wheel paint... i would also suggst after you sand/use steel wool to put on a coat of primer. then paint, then how ever many coats of clear you want.

I just painted my wheels with the Duplicolor wheel paint. It dries very fast (you have to apply your coats within an hour of eachother). So I highly recommend that product.
I have 16's with lots of ridges and curves (as you can see in my sig) and it only took one and a half cans at three coats per wheel. I bought three cans just to be safe, but one of the cans was spraying odd, so I only used a little bit out of that one. So maybe a total of two cans.
There black is really nice, my wheels look satin, or flat black but when they are wet, there's a metallic flake to them. I'm sure if you put heavier coats on, and a clear coat, the flake would show up better. But I liked the satin look.
I washed my rims with dish soap, sanded them down with 320 grit, rinsed them again, and then painted. After about an hour and a half of the final coat, I was able to handle them, and put them back on the neon. No scratches, smudges or anything.

Thanks for tips guys - I think next week after I get my drop zones, I am going to use my lawn mowing money to buy the duplicolor and paint the rims black - gloss or flat?
