Windows XP warning

For those of you that are computer guru's here is a little warning...
If you dont already know, for the past 2 weeks anyone with a Non-Legit copy of WinXP are dealing with a little problem. Microsoft released a windows update that installs a program into your computer to see if you have a legit copy of windows.
So for those of you that MIGHT have a Non-Legit copy beware!

The Genuine Advantage has been around for like 6 months...

If you dont want the computer to know its hacked you can disable it in the plug in section of Iexplorer.

I havnt seen the star though...

The newer update does not allow you to do that anymore unfortunately. It still shows in the plugin section, but the option to enable/disable is greyed out so you cant change it. One option you could possibly do, is find out what ports the plugin uses and where the plugin file is at, and have a firewall BLOCK all access in/out for it.

I think im just going to save up and get XP Pro...

I have Corprate to, Still requires the WGA Patch though. Im overdue for slicking my machines so I think I might load 2Kpro... I hate the way they get away with infecting computers with this shit...

yeah ive had that lovely little icon for a few weeks now...w.e it doesnt bother me, i honestly cannot remember the last time i recieved computer software or music legally. piracy is piracy. is it wrong? yeah. does anyone care except for the companies/artsists/developers raking in millions anyway? def not. as long as there is stuff to pirate it will be pirated. and the pirates will always be one step ahead.

how many of you guys can honestly say uve never downloaded anything illegally. I have 10 GB of mp3's (2100 songs), 24 GB of movies (24). some video games, and a winxp pro corp......

google has links to all sorts of ways to get around this. Search for "remove wga nag screen".

if any of you just use your computer for simple things like word processing and internet then i suggest just switching to linux. I recomend kubuntu http://www.kubuntu.org/

Been there done that with the apple thing, it works to good...

But there were some things I do on a windows machine that a mac cant do, but what I dont remember its been over 2years

Mac OSX Jaguar was the sh$t, to bad they dont make a mac system for pc's...

Most Shops nowdays refuse to work on ME machines, often they instead recommend you pay to have them updated to 2kpro or XP

If I had the Cash, I would for sure have a new Mac...

Later next week all my machines are going 2kpro though... I miss its cleaner look and the fact that it takes half the RAM to run the same OS.

Hehe... I knew about it so I never isntalled their so called "hot-fix" to put that crap on mine

It's somewhat easy to remove though.
