A few random questions

Post by fireantz » Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:24 am

I have a few probably easy questions..
1) My throttle pedal is sticking..I think it is because of my throttle body (mpx) is there anything I can do to fix it? Spray some WD-40 on the bearings or something?

2) I rotated my tires and now my steering wheel vibrates a little especially at high speeds..not to the point where it's hard to drive the car but it wasn't there before I rotated them so I would rather it not be there now. Would that be because of the balance or something being off?

Not sure about Question #1, but for #2... I'd definitely get the wheels rebalanced... It'll probably cost you a few dollars, but it's better than driving with an annoying shuddering. Sounds like wheel balance to me.

#1: could be a kink in the cable, check it out all the way thru and make sure everything looks right. since u have the MPX tb someone else with it would have to give u any other advice.

#2 try what mike said or maybe u might need an alignment? also check all your tire pressures if u havent yet, if one is off by a lot it will throw things out of whack.

An alignment wouldn't make the steering wheel shake, just pull to the left or right.

I know the 1gn's had a mechanical transmission kick-down rod that would sometimes stick... Given that you're on 2gn.org i doubt thats your problem... sorry

Another possibility to consider. What is the condition of the tread? If the tread has an uneven wear that will happen. Also, assuming these tires were from the rear, did you do any e-braking? ie... Doughnuts...?

No i don't do e-braking but I do corner hard sometimes..it seems like it is going away slowly so it is probably just uneven wear. As for the TB problem I emailed MP to see what they would suggest I put on it to get rid of it.

Ive got the MPX -

Did you just install it ? Mine stuck for the first couple days

I would shy away from spraying WD on in . . . If its still sticking - Take it out and examine it b/c it shouldnt be sticking -

If it looks like there are some parts that are sticking - Use a high qaulity grease rather than a spray on oil . . .
And dont put anything inside the throttle body!

As far as the wheels go - Sounds like balance to me . . . just take it to your local tire shop
