Whatever that amp you listed there, you could run both the subs off that one. You're pushing it a bit but it'll work. My subs are 20 watts RMS underpowered and they hit like MAD.
So to sum it up, just one amp will work for you.

are you sure blue demon because everyone else has told me that one is fine and two would be way too much power to those subs the subs should only be getting like 125 watts so putting 460 to both would probably be bad for them and i am not going to ruin my jls i have waited too long for them to ruin them

I think he was talking about getting 2 subs instead of 1. You'll be fine with one amp and 2 subs. I have 2 12's that are 125 rms and they're only getting a little over 100 rms from my amp and it's PLENTY loud.kornholio788 wrote:are you sure blue demon because everyone else has told me that one is fine and two would be way too much power to those subs the subs should only be getting like 125 watts so putting 460 to both would probably be bad for them and i am not going to ruin my jls i have waited too long for them to ruin them
edit:
I just noticed that my subs are actually rated for 200 watts, and getting 180. (both 4 ohms)
But I still think just one amp will sound fine with those subs.

just make sure whatever amp u get is CEA compliant....this means ur getting how many watts the company says the amp is putting out or something very close to what it says. i paid $349 for the thunder 502 *i believe it was 502...50x if it wasnt 502* it was a 500 watt amp and when it was bench tested it put down 486 watts. try that with a POS sony amp

Exactly just because the amp says it puts out 300W RMS doesn't mean it acttualy does. I'm using a 2 Channell A/D/S amp and its rated at 2X150 and I'm using it to power a MB-Quart Q dual coil 4OHM 10". I tried the same SUB with several differant AMPS and none of them hit as hard as the A/D/S. I have a cheap Wolfgehagen (SP) amp that is rated at like 750W RMS and its about half as loud as the A/D/S.eastwoodsn352 wrote:just make sure whatever amp u get is CEA compliant....this means ur getting how many watts the company says the amp is putting out or something very close to what it says. i paid $349 for the thunder 502 *i believe it was 502...50x if it wasnt 502* it was a 500 watt amp and when it was bench tested it put down 486 watts. try that with a POS sony amp
He said in his first post that he was getting 2 subs. and the amp he is getting is rated at 300W RMS into one chanell split that in half and unless its a high quality amp which I doubt it can touch a A/D/S in quality. There is no way it will push those two SUBS decently.

Aparently you have no concept of car stereo.Nick Drake wrote:Nick Drake wrote:So to sum it up, just one amp will work for you.Nick Drake wrote:You'll be fine with one amp and 2 subs. I have 2 12's that are 125 rms and they're only getting a little over 100 rms from my amp and it's PLENTY loud.
Just because your 12" subs are getting just over 100 watts doesn't mean a damn thing. What kind of amp are you using? What kind of subs are they? What kind of inclosure are they in? Are you using a CAP? Are they subs 2 ohm or 4. Are they running of a Amp rated at 100 watts at four ohms? Or a amp rated for 200 watts at 2 ohms?
Talk about the blind leading the blind.
Dual amps are cheap Amps. A friend of mine had a P series Rockford amp pushing 2 JL 10w0. Each subs where getting around 250 watts RMS at 4 Ohms and they where not all that loud. My one 10" Cove Armagedin (SP) sub that I had in at the time with my A/D/S amp was almost twice as loud. I assure you that Rockford amp is much better an amp then those Dual amps are.
When ever your installing and tunning your system you should never set the gain higher then 75 percent of the way up. If you have to set it any higher to get a decent vollume then go get a bigger amp. If you crank an amp all the way up you will blow it.

To answer your question try it with just one at first. If the amps lights are dimming real bad and if the subs sound real distorted then go get another amp.
if your looking for an amp to push those subs to the point of distruction grab this one you will not be disapointed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/10-500w-A-D-S-A10s- ... dZViewItem
that and i would get that sub over the JL's anyday. I had one of those and it was an eight in a bandpass. and it was louder them my friends two 12 inch kenwood subs, I forget wich model they where.

His subs' specs say 100-150 watts RMS (4 ohms) is nominal.
His amp's specs say "100 Watts RMS x 2 channels at 4 ohms and < 1% THD+N".
BAM. There you have a decent system for someone who isn't totally into having the loudest booming system in his area.

Most people don't care how crisp the thumps are or how close to the the real thing do they sound. Most people want to hear the bass. And most won't listen to the bass and go "No that sounds more like a Clasical bass beat then a rock bass beat". Most people just don't care.
The thing I would be concerned with more is will the amp go boom?
NicDrake very well could be correct on that it will work. What I would be concerned with is for how long will the amp last. Being that your on a budget the last thing you want to do is spend the money and then have it blow up in six monthes because you pushed the amp to much.
Found a few sights that have good prices.

Ok, in closing general rule of thumb when you have a Sub that is rated at 150W RMS Send 300W RMS to it. both your amp and Sub will be happy.
Go to www.sounddomain.com go to the Forums people there are asking much the same kind of questions you are. Will get much more expearianced people down there that eat breath and sleep car stereo and they can give you real good info.
